Market Trends in 2020
Real Estate Trend #1: Home prices are still rising slowly in most markets. Overall, home prices grew 3.3% in 2019 and real estate gurus predict an increase by 2.8 % in 2020. Great news for sellers that may see more profit this year; however, this prices some buyers out of the market giving sellers fewer offers on their home.
Real Estate Trend #2: Mortgage interest rates are still on the decline. 2020 mortgage interest rates have been steadily dropping below 4% for common types of loans. This year, economist geeks think interest rates will stay around 3.7% for a 30-year mortgage and 3.2% for a 15-year mortgage. But this is never a guarantee because things like tariffs and trade wars might gradually shift the economy, which could result in the Federal Reserve slowly increasing interest rates to balance things out.
Real Estate Trend #3: The majority of home buyers are Millennials. Millennials took the lead with the largest percentage of home buyers at 37%. So, what does this mean? As a seller, your online listing presence should be on point. You should know popular features and highlight the perks of your home in your listing. Professional photography, videos, drone shots, and staging are an absolute must.
